Yes! We support both common bolt release positions for a Savage rifle, both top and bottom will work without issue.
For the bottom bolt release, there is a slot milled in the side of the chassis which allows the insertion of a tool to activate the release.

I see the slot but what now?
Insert a tool through the slot in the side, and you will be to remove your bolt.
What tool?
Anything, it can range from an Allan key, to a golf tee.
Ok. So after inserting through slot do I push or pull? Start from forward of slot and pull "tool" to rear?
Yes, you will want to pull the tool to the back of the rifle.
👍
Is there anything that can be done to have an easier bolt removal? I've head of conversions of sorts to make it top remove.
We are not aware of a conversion kit for the bottom bolt release. Our Field Stock Savage SA stock has a newer design with a push button, but most are still designed with a slot milled into the side.
How can I order a Field Stock with bottom bolt release button? I don’t see an option for it, nor any photos of what it looks like. I have a Savage 16 SA and like most people with the short lived 16 and 116 models, we’re not looking forwards to slots or tools to put up into the trigger guard area.
Our Field Stock comes equipped with it regardless. You can order at any time.
Do you have any pictures of the stock with a bottom bolt release installed?
Our apologies, but we do not have pictures of a bottom bolt release Savage in the Field Stock. There is a button on the underside that actuates the bolt release. If you have further questions, please reach out to our support team at support@mdttac.com. Thanks.
