Most other actions on the market offer two different sizes to accommodate the different lengths of ammunition. Tikka decided to make one medium action with a size in between what a short and long action would be.
To work with one size action, they shim the backside of their magazines to allow for shorter sized cartridges.
The only difference with the chassis is the size of the magazine well. For a .223, .308, or 6.5 Creedmoor you will need to select a short caliber so that you can use .223 or .308 AICS style magazines.
For .300WM, 6.5x55, or 30.06 you would need to select a long caliber. But because it’s not as long as a standard long action rifle, we had to produce a custom size magazine to reliably feed, they are listed on our website as the Long Action 3.560” length.

I own a Tikka T3x CTR in 6.5 creedmore. I would need to purchase a short action chassis (LSS Gen2 in my case)to fit my rifle.
As far as magazines go, I could use any AICS style magazine with the short action MDT.

Yes, you will need a short action chassis. Yes, most AICS pattern magazines will work without issue. The only exception is the Magpul 7.62 AC P-Mag which is optimized for a Remington 700.
So for a Tikka T3x Varmint in 30-06 I will need to buy a chassis in Long Action - correct?
Yes, that is correct, the 30-06 is a long action and will feed from our 3.560" length magazines.
Would I be able to run 6.5 creedmoor using the long action chassis and the long action 3.560" magazines?
It's not a combination we recommend as it will very likely produce unreliable feeding.

It depends on whether or not magazine feeding is important to you. If it is, you would want any of our chassis systems for a Tikka T3/T3X LA.
Will the .300wsm AICS magazine work with the tikka t3 .300wsm TAC21 SA chassis?
As long as your referring to our 300 WSM SA AICS magazine, it will work with the TAC 21 for a Tikka T3/T3X SA without issue.

Hello, we don't have any experience with this stock, but we make AICS short action 3 rd or 7 rd 300WSM/6.5PRC magazines. If your stock is set up to work with AICS short action mags, you should be good to go but it may be best to confirm with the stock manufacturer what magazines it will be compatible for it.
I have a Tikka T3X in 30-06 that I’m considering rebarreling to 6.5 Creedmore and switching to one of your chassis. Would I select the long action for this build and what magazine would I run? I think Tikka uses a spacer in their factory magazines for shorter rounds like the 6.5 CM.
